Transitioning from Computer Science to Data Science.

Hello, its midnight but I am still awake. I am from a poor country in Asia, but I have a dream to become a 6-7 digit earner Data Scientist with a background in Artificial Intelligence Engineering. What do you think? do you have any idea of Data science? Becoming a real scientist is hard probably, but I will fill it with full determination, hard work and passion. I believe with myself to become a successful Scientist working for a Tech-company.

I work in the industry. Data science is a really bad meme. Stick to software engineering, particularly for high throughput distributed systems.

Data Sci is the most overhyped job

- Company will dump garbage, erroneous, incomplete data and expect you to magically gib them 20% increase in profits.

- Most companies don't hire data engineer, so you do all the cleaning and modifications

- by the time you get to actual data sci part your brain is already melted looking at numbers for cleaning

- Most companies don't even know why they are hiring data scientist in the first place. So no clear question to answer and so the question you are basically answering from garbage data is make more $$$?

- Companies treat them like shiet cause the moment they will place job ad hundreds will apply.

- no proper experience gain other than garbage data disposal

- easily replaced by any bachelor grad cause of so much knowledge on internet.

Stick to hard sciences if you are in it. Might be low pay but atleast you'll gain useful experience to build on and less competition.
Peace of mind > few extra $$

If you still want data sci job try to check if the company hires data engineers too. This will atleast be a confirmation that company knows atleast somewhat what they are doing.

I've heard bad job satisfaction among entry level people in data science. If you want to work with statistical methods and data sets, I'd suggest you just do computer science with a statistics minor or double major, and focus on jobs that ask for statistical heavy computation. On the other hand, CS + pure math double majors are very thorough, but it may be too much work for what you're looking for.
