We used to have a brand of eggs where every single egg in the carton was double yolk. So I think the rarity varies greatly depends on the chickens who are laying the eggs.

I was making breakfast earlier on in the year and cracked three (3) double-yolk Eggs one after another in succession. Couldn’t believe it and thought the same, chances must have been hella-slim.

Last year I used to eat eggs almost daily. Got one double yolk.
In my all previous 25 yrs either me or me mom found double egg twice.

Speaking of, 4 leaf clover are actually quite common.
Ppl only think they arent cos they dont look for them. In some species i have never seen 4 leafs, in others I sometimes find whole plants where all leaves are either 4 or 5 parted. And none of these were in unvisited places. One was right near a bus stop and noone noticed.
I collect these 4 leafs, dry and eat em. I once found a 6 leaf and it is still in an alcohol solution with me. I had 1 other 6 leaf, but I had dried it and it fell apart.

The first one is at least possible, but the cut is a definite fake sign.
And as for the 2... I cant think of a way one egg gets calcified as it passes the ooduct, then somehow gets captured by another non- calcified egg, which eventually gets calcified.
And all that with no deformities or fused shells.

Double yokes are usually detected before they get into the distribution chain. Like other visually defective but otherwise intact eggs, they are used for other purposes such as prepared pourable egg mixes.

I just use 70% ethanol in a jar, cos thats what I was using all the time back in a lab. You can also use formaldehyde, but that shit smells horrible
