Experimental. Theorists are a bunch of cucks and this is literally the worst time to be a theoretical scientist. For decades now all of their shitty theories have been consistently proven wrong by, you guessed it, experimental scientists. Literally get paid by your lab to tell them how retarded they are. And if a theorist by chance actually guesses the nature of reality, your experiment shares the nobel with them eternally cucking them.

I mean, depends on what you mean by oversaturated. Computational physics itself may be saturated (don't really know) by the grace of there being relatively few jobs doing computational physics, particularly jobs doing computational physics that don't require a Ph.D. Computational science in general I would say no, largely because we are still in a boom for computing jobs that don't explicitly require a computational science degree but that someone with training in that area could work without a problem. For example, there are plenty of companies hiring "data science/ data analyst/ data engineer" that a background in computational science would be sufficient for. There are a lot of people going into this field for that reason, but I think we are still at the point where the number of (qualified) candidates looking for these jobs is less than the demand.

Experimental will probably take too long waiting on results and tedious crap for master's project. If master's only I'd do theoretical. If PhD then you have time to devote to the project so experimental is a better avenue.
I was PhD theorist but in USA so got master's as part of PhD work
