hey /sci/entists.

I'm kind of a grug brain so I don't usually post here, and i know this question will probably seem very /x/ tier but I just have a question because I know very little about the movement of celestial bodies.

I usually look up at the moon and stars at night, (mostly wishing i wasn't on this planet because my life is a total failure, but whatever) and I note the positions of the moon and certain constellations i can identify.

last time i looked ( and I live in southern california ) the moon's path was pretty much directly above but a little bit to the south, maybe 10 degrees or so but again, i am a grug brain.

Tonight the moon is VERY north of it's normal position, maybe 30 or 40 degrees? Is this normal? can the astronomers out there confirm this?

Thank you.
