Anyway, the gist of it is that, to put it simply - while focusing on your breath intensely for half an hour, you will start noticing thought patterns that you didnt think yourself.
You are actually slowly removing your ego from your id - or to put it simply - you are witnessing how your reptilian brain affects your thinking.
If youre normal, meditation will be merely an interesting activity for you. Start writing down your dreams and you will increase your likelyhood of having them in the future. You might see and hear some hallucinations - if you meditate with this technique where you focus on literally not moving a muscle or not doing anything. You will have moments where you realise something you thought you didnt know like a few days ago.
But if youre depressed, you can overcome depression with meditation.
What is wim hoff esentially doing is - by deep breathing you are using your diaphragm and your stomach muscles, to massage your nerves in your stomach - that relaxes the body. While focusing on your breathing (or something completely else like imagining a white ball or a number) you are esentially allowing your sub conscious to.. relax in a way..
If you have intrusive thoughts meditation will help you recognize them and realize that, you are not depressed - you are not your depression - you just have a fault in your nervous system. This thought alone helped me overcome depression, and also every time i would get the usual symptoms, i knew that bad times were coming and that i should brace for an depressive episode - so that kind of thinking eventually helped me overcome it completely.
You need a lot of practice and tries , you need to try all the types you can imagine- because its not about the technique, its about what works best for you
Its kinda like debugging your brain but if you dont know what youre doing, its just relaxing then.
