>>12307656>You can't compare a one-shot rocket to something that operates for ~20-30yrs near continuously, whether that be a fully reusable rocket, airliner, or wind turbine.Starship ain't a one shot rocket. Also, why do you think stainless steel wind turbines wouldn't last as long as glass fiber composite and aluminum wind turbines? I'm saying design them for long lifetimes, sure, but use cheaper materials that can be recycled easily.
>Finally, wind turbines simply get so much better with size that there's no benefit on a grid scale from building out lots of small ones.Who said anything about making them small? I said you need to make a shitload of them, even if they're big as fuck that's still true.
To reiterate my point, I said if you want to do wind power you are looking to replace fossil fuels which means you need terawatts of capacity, which means you need to come up with a design that can be constructed on those scales without spending a gorillion dollars and taking 300 years. Therefore, simple construction, simple materials, simple and rapid manufacturing, and ideally recycle all your old shit one shit breaks down in 30+ years.
