According to the US Census Bureau the poverty threshold is set at roughly $13k.
According to the 2019 Official Poverty Report there are 34 million people living in poverty in the US.
Now, even assuming the worst case scenario where those 34 million people have a zero income, if we wanted to raise them out of poverty it would cost just shy of 450 billion dollars.
In other words poverty could be eradicated in the US with just half the net worth of just ten people, whose wealth by the way could be easily slashed in half without them even fucking noticing.
