Probably cultivation, since that little material in the grass is far too little to work with.
But culture needs selection for ET, since fungus looses ability to make ET in captivity, from what I've read long time ago...

Infected Dallisgrass is very common, if little material is the issue then large amounts could be acquired. Culturing the strain for selection of a specific alkaloid would require deep knowledge of mycology, very sterile conditions, and pricey equipment. How would one isolate the desired alkaloid from the other mycotoxins contained within the specimen? Surely a STB using a bunch of NaOH dissolved in dist. H2O into a nonpolar solvent with a few filtrations isn't all there is to it...where to read up on this?

Use like Ehrlich reagent as quick test for lysergamides, isolate that stain and let it reproduce. Then do like column chromatography to isolate ET, column chromatography is the thing if other things like STB, recrystallisation.... won't work
