What do you guys think of Abstract Algebra by Charles Pinter?

I'm basically on chapter 16 working through all the proofs:

But I've heard mixed reviews from people who hate this book.

It was my first introduction to algebra. I'm in a graduate algebra course rn and I ironically know more algebra than people in my class who went through D&F. I r8 it an 8/8.

It's a shit text. I also first learned from this text in high school and, while the exercises are fun and cute as another anon mention, the content is lacking compared to some better algebra texts out there. I recall there being some industry standard texts out there for abstract algebra but I'm forgetting their name.. these ones are pretty good, and I'd recommend those over this introductory introduction to a primer in algebra book

I think its a good preparation and really helps when you want to seriously get into algebra. But it will always be hard work to improve.

I think their explanation on tensors is lacking. But that is the case for many authors in my opinion. Universal properties are somewhat tricky when you've never seen them before.
