No, the real answer is that FTL travel and communication are both impossible and the technology developed by each intelligent species is incompatible with all others so none of them can ever find each other and even stray transmissions will only ever be interpreted as background radiation or similar.

Aliens existing but being too different to recognize is a valid possibility. Distance and speed are already part of why the question exists to begin with, but there's no real quantifiable argument against exotic forms or behaviors not being recognized.

this isn’t our galaxy, no one has been able to go that far away to take a picture. It’s a random galaxy of similar size to emphasize the extent of human broadcast activity. You have to additionally factor in that most of these signals are not differentiable from background noise due to inverse square law.
The same concept applies to any alien activity. If there was a huge ass civilization 2 million years ago right next to us, which is nothing in universal time scales, we would have no way of knowing.

Yes, it is. Do you think nobody figured out the distances involved until last year or something?
I'm always surprised by how stupid you all seem to believe physicists like Fermi were. The solution isn't going to be simple since the entire point of the 'paradox' is they already ran though the obvious explanations and found they didn't work.
