I mean, Witten started with some random physics book and he seemed to do just fine. I dont have all the journalism knowledge he had, but I do almost have a law degree, so Im sure that I could substitute all my credits for a journalism degree

im doing a phys bsc, some facts are hard to understand unless youre able to do the math. everything can be simplified of course, it depends the level of the subject you want to understand

for example, youll never fully master kinematics if you dont know how to do derivatives ans integrals, but that doesnt mean you cant understand it or do the math on a lower level

Depends on the level:
for lowerclassman undergrad level you only need calculus and differential equations

for upperclassman you will want linear algebra and math methods but they will not be required

finally you need math up to differential calculus to really move forward.
