Anyone who says internal monologue is inefficient/slow is just coping at the fact that they have pitiful processing speed and can't comprehend information fast enough. Internal monologue is not limited to the 'speed of words' in real life. If you were actually smart you would be able to use internal monologue subvocalizing and retaining every word while experiencing slower subjective time than your peers. There's a reason why people like ben shapiro can talk so fast, and it's not because he 'thinks in pictures'. Don't fall for this self help 'how to think' garbage. Either you are fast or you aren't. Reading should be done w/ internal monologue and if you are slow then too bad.
