You first have to check how closely spaced the numbers are. Calculate the numbers that are closely spaced first, and the farther spaced numbers last.
(Pay close attention, Trumpies, as I explain)
In this question, the first and second 2's are most closely spaced, so you multiply... that's what brackets mean, you have to multiply what's inside by what's outside..
= 8÷2(2+2)
= 8÷(4+2)
The 4 is now closer to the 2 than to the 8. The 8 started off far to the left, so obviously it was always gonna come last..
= 8÷6
= 8.6
