However, there are websites which store database leaks from other, hacked sites. If you have a static IP and it was logged by one of these websites which was subsequently hacked, that IP address may now be associated with an email address, username, password, or password hash, and from there it is easy to obtain more information.

There are also sites that publicly post what IPs access their content, or listen in on various torrent sites and track all the IPs connected. So if you torrent from public trackers, expect your IP to be out there and that information associated with your IP.
