Clarke's 2061, a bunch of old celebrities take a pleasure cruise to Halley's comet, which is back in the neighborhood. One of the passengers is best known as the first man on Mercury, and the ship's crew have a little more respect for him since has harder astronaut experience. They don't go into any of the logistics of the idea though.
