There was a massive buy-back when slavery ended, and many slave owners made shitloads off of this, and consequently, their descendants were mostly well-off.
On the other hand, slaves got nothing, sending them into poverty, and making it harder for their descendants to succeed, since they can't just throw daddy's money into some investments and live off of that.
The slave owners were already (undeservedly) got their reparations. It is only fair if blacks receive reparations, in particular since they contributed so greatly to getting the US to where it is today, viz. providing massive amounts of resources to make industrialization useful.

I saw an insured black business owner cry his eyes out after BLM rioters destroyed everything inside his business and were in the process of breaking open his safe while he was crying in the corner. Most of business insurance covers THE BUILDING like window panes, the outside, and the structure. They will not replace any of the stuff going on inside the business. This is what many small business owners have. To expect them to have more comprehensive insurance means they pay out the ass and they're doing so in LOW TRUST SOCIETY where they believe they will be susceptible to theft and property destruction. People losing their entire lives is not something to dismiss the way you have because muh insurance. Many of these people went bankrupt.
