What is the cause of modern people's warped attention spans?
Is there reason in the argument that it's caused by the consumption?
It can't all be due to media consumption.

some people don't have the preconditioning to be learning only 1 subject
some people don't have the preconditioning to learn through very dry measures like text or logic
the answer isn't always to condition them in a specific way, but alter the environment around them. this agitates the most growth and energy

and yeah, a lot of media will do shit like that
the brain is getting illuminated by all these colours, events, characters, etc.
then you stick someone in a stationary place for 8 hours a day and make them focus on singular and monotonous things
you can make these things much more stimulating, or you can rob those people of any stimulating input and the brain will be more stimulated by this other thing because it just wants some kind of vice

school fucks up out sensitivity desu. i don't mean this in some pussy kind of way but awareness and sensitive attunement to reality. it's far too static of an experience, and thus the senses are dulled through routine. ADD keeps stuff like that alive and imo is part of what prevents us from being complete cattle

Yes, heavy metal exposure is terrible for the brain. Whether or not we're being exposed to greater amounts now than in the past, I don't know. Seafood is terrible at this point, but then you had things like lead paint and leaded fuel in the past.
