What should I major in? The majors I most like are Biology, Geology, Chemistry, Anthropology and History. I'd be happy to major in any of them so I'm wondering which one I'd be best able to start a career with.

You can forget all of them except maybe biology and chemistry. And even then youve got limited choices.

I'm not the most qualified to answer but I'm pretty sure that geo, anthro and history have barely any careers out of their academic paths. I'm sure stuff like museums will hire some of them but I'm not sure that is a stable career.

Bio and chem do have careers built into them so you probably want to go in that direction though I'd probably like to hear from someone in these fields if there are any careers that are not just running routine experiments all day.

Do not even consider anthropology and history for a start. Biology is a field designed to trick slaves into doing grunt experimental work, but a good place for puss puss. Chemistry is okay as long as you don't mind losing a few fingers or dying by exposure to organofluorines. Geology, depends a lot what you do but I've heard you can make $$$ in the petroleum industry.

Sounds like Biology or Chemistry would be best. For Biology do you guys think that would be a good major to get a job working at a national park or animal preserve? My dream is to get a job somehow working with animals.

First of all. Do not spend 4 years in a 4 year university because if you hate what you are getting, you will be stuck with it because there is a cap on aid. Go to a 2 year and pick your major and then transfer. 2 year degrees are also cheaper.

Great you already made the mistake I made. You will be in college for 6 years if you only did GE. Since you pursued as an undecided student you will see yourself slowly cripple into a depression forced to balance retail with any of the majors.

Your going to have a terrible GPA and never become the animal vet. If I were you I would leave and become a tradesmen or some other job that has more flexible work hours. Then come back to finish it.

I think your projecting man, I got enough financial aid that I'll graduate either debt free or even with a bit left over. Plus my GPA right now is pretty good, the only thing making me depressed is >tfw no gf from Corona restrictions meaning I can't meet girls on campus.

If you're still here. Geochemistry is a thing. I feel like you should be able to integrate a few of these topics with research.

In terms of a career, go chemistry. Biology field is saturated af and you can most certainly get a job with a BS in Chem.

i agree with some of the other replies: biology is full, humanities sucks ass, so that leaves chemistry and geology. I think biochemistry is still fine, and then theres chemistry, geology, geochemistry to choose from also

I hope OP don't mind me hijacking the thread. I graduated CS 8 years ago. Since then I've only worked IT jobs for 4 years intermittently and the rest on helping out the family store as nothing more than shift supervisor. Any STEM postgrad degrees besides IT/CS I can take without prior experience? Should I just take bachelor degree again if I want to move out of IT?
