>>12286251A purely benevolent human overseeing a world of rats would perform strict population control. Allowing the population to rise to the point of resources scarcity leads to violence, famine, and antisocial behavior. If I was suddenly handed control of a world of rats which had an overflowing population, I'd begin sterilization and culling. Those with the best fitness and behavior would be left intact.
Humans are currently outstripping the Earth's natural resources by a factor of at least ten. Culling is the quickest way to stop this and sterilization is the second quickest and most ethical. The slowest and least ethical way to do it, is to wait until conditions are so bad that humans begin to slaughter each other viciously and randomly in mass.
