>neighbours have an alsatian
>never go around when they ask because I've been bitten badly twice before and both times accompanied by the owners saying "oh don't worry, he's ever so docile" beforehand and "ooh isn't that strange, he's never done that before" afterwards
>neighbours always saying "there's no need to be scared, he's gettin on now (age-wise), he's ever so slow and friendly"
>several years pass
>get woken up at 4 in the mornimg recently by a bloodcurdling scream
>it doesn't stop
>ambulance comes, turns out the dog had a seizure and went mental when it woke back up, tore the veins out the guy's arms, he's taken away to hospital
>dog howling and growling incessantly all morning
>vets called around to put it down
>they say it's too dangerous, they can't get close
>dog pacing up and down the garden looking like a wild animal, still howling, now 11 in the morning
>police send an armed officer to shoot it in the head
>bits of brains and skull sent flying everywhere, avoid going out into the garden for weeks afterwards until it next rains heavily because I'm too grossed out
>my sister's cat is in a funny mood because my own cat recently died of old age at 21
>he tries to bite my finger but already lost all his teeth to that common cat gum disease before he was adopted so he just sucks my finger for a few seconds and then slinks off and sleeps
Why would you own a pet that's nearly the same size and strength as you?
