Have you noticed MS/PhD's getting treated different in your work environment?

I've got a MS from MIT and dropped out of my PhD program. This is hurting me like fuck to think that I'm being looked down on.

ive literally been on /sci/ since I was asking advice about how to do a PhD if I did bad in highschool. I went to community college, georgia tech and then got into a MIT PhD program but after COVID I fucking bounced out because life is too short. I've been on /sci/ for 10 years, can't shake it dude.

A PhD is a union card. If you really want to do research you need a PhD from somewhere. Most people see a Dr. vs a Mr or Ms and assume Dr is smarter / better.

You can pick a less demanding PhD that does not require lots of experimental work and complete it at home nights and weekends. It's still a long exhausting haul, but it can be done.

Got my PhD in systems engineering part time over the course of 8 years. My research was conducted on a computer, not in a lab.

Yeah, I come from a shithole that isn't enough of a shithole, so when I apply to PhDs I'm just a guy with excellent grades, instead of either being a guy with excellent grades from a prestigious university or a guy with excellent grades from a 3rd world country. It's been almost two years since I started searching for PhDs and I still have no idea whether I'll ever get one.

I dropped out because everything (courses, meetings etc.) became virtual and the way I learn is very dependent on physical presence. Basically I can't keep up with what is demanded from me if I can just shitpost all fucking day and play video games.

I work at google now making $215k a year, so it's no sweat off my back, but I feel inferior to people in my work environment who (specifically) came from my faculty or even under my advisor who are just fucking better than me. I feel like if I finished the PhD, I would have been equal in some way.
