An Idea

Starting off with some background of my autism, I had this idea while thinking about what to major in in college and how I could help the world with what I'm going to do with my life. I've been thinking it over for a couple days before posting and I'm still not even sure if it's viable.

The concept of evolution of life applies to many other things, like computer programs and other short term processes. Humans tend to make things that are similar to ourselves, like programs are to human reproduction. Life experiences this "program" through evolution and becoming better at what they do. be it swim, run, eat, kill, whatever, after small changes over much time. One can think of this like how we humans change aircraft, electronics, or medicine to be more effective by changing things slightly and trying new materials, designs, molecules, etc., but this takes time. Humans live for a while but not long enough to profit from their own inventions fully.

A computer program with massive amounts of computer power behind it which simulates evolution of not life, but other fields like aeronautics, medicine, and such is my idea. The program takes an item, lets say atoms/molecules, and slightly changes it over time and tests it in a simulation and changes until it becomes better and better, and eventually the best at what it does. This artificial evolution is not new of course. I truly believe this way of innovation compared to the human way of educated guesses and trial and error will change humanity forever. Does anyone have any info or thoughts on this? Consequences on the human race? Am I talking out of my ass and you're surprised this post isn't colored brown? Discuss please. It's ok if you think I'm a pseud.
