have you taken quantum mechanics? you know all of those properties you learn about quantum particles, like bose/fermi statistics, uncertainty principle, energy/angular momentum quantization? those properties exist for quantum fields.

if you haven't taken QM then trying to understand what a quantum field is is putting the cart before the horse

Classical field are well defined mathematical objects that describe unlocalizes physical entities that interact with different types of matter. Quantum fields till this day have no proper/general mathematical meaning and so they are mumbo jumbo supported by some numerical shit.

Well, that is not quite true, afaik. If you study for instance Wightman's "Spin, Statistics and PCT" you will learn, that quantum fields are operator valued distributions, whereas classical fields are complex valued distributions. From a mathematical point of view it is quite well understood, what a quantum fields is. what is not known, if it is possible to write a well defined *interacting* qft (see Haag's theorem).
