The way I understand it is that it's the limit of what
you're Entangled with, in a quantum physics sense.
There are three types of boundaries:
the particle horizon: current limit of entanglement
between observer and environment. it grows at the speed of light currently.
the hubble horizon: the limit due to expansion of spacetime, and the speed of light. it's about a billion ly outside the current particle horizon.
the cosmic event horizon: the particle horizon after infinite time. it's about a billion ly outside the hubble horizon.
no matter how long you wait, the universe will still be finite unless mankind fixes that
