hm I fell asleep with my stirrer on my heating mantle on and when I woke up it was broken. it makes a whirring noise when I turn it on but the bar doesn't move. what would I have to do to fix it?

hey! I did and what I found was that if I put the stir bar directly on the motor and turn it on it spins, but it doesn't spin while in the cradle

alright, so like seeing as I am in the midst of like a bunch of cool science nerds that probably have more experience with magnets than I do you think that maybe I desensitized the magnet?

I have new bars on the way so that would be cool.

nah I'm more interested in like if the friction of the spinning bar produced a resistance to the magnetic field that desensitized the magnet

and if so if this could have an effect on the magnetic motor as well, but hopefully that thing is magnetized by electricity so that magnetic force is replenished constantly. if not I guess I could replace the motor maybe

fyi if you turn the stirrer up too high fresh from the factory the magnet doesn't spin because the amount of friction the bar deals with anyways is too high to make sense of the field anyways, so friction is always a factor, right?
