CS is of course an extremely important discipline, and any decent developer needs some CS knowledge to avoid being a mere code monkey, but CS degrees by themselves don't prepare you for a job in software development at most companies, unless it's a high-level research position or a very uncommon niche, or unless the degree incorporates a lot of practical software engineering courses
