Could talk with him about anything from musical theory, to philosophy, to the intersection between math and physics. He knew more math, my friend and I knew more physics so we had a lot of fun conversations learning from each other and it was clear that if he were in our field he would've wiped the floor with us.
Sadly he had a falling out with my friend after living together and not respecting basic house rules. Guy was a little autismo and would do thinks like cook loudly at 3am while his roomates tried to sleep, didn't clean up after himself, etc.
At least he was the smartest of my contemporaries, I've met a handful of nobel winners in physics but I'd dox myself by naming them.
