yet employers and firms will hire the second guy because of a higher grade

but a high paying job for be for someone who has natural intelligence no one can acquire. What you are describing would matter most in some retail job like wal mart where its 100% effort.
All the high paying jobs are given to people who get good grades and go to a good school, but good grades and good school just means you had to put in more work to get where you are.

So if anything, as the pay of a job goes up, so should the importance of natural IQ. But school will never make for a good IQ indicator, because dumb people can just put in 100x more the work hours than someone intelligent

Someone who's willing to work hard may be as rare as someone who is intelligent. I would consider that a valuable asset. Of course you'd like for an employee to have both assets, and some employees have neither.

take professional sports: even if the average person exercised with the same regimen as the typical american football player, they would still be outclassed, because professional players are genetically lucky and able to physically peak out at a higher level than most. a 5'4" at absolute peak performance for their body could simply not physically compete with a 6'2" monster truck of a man. of course, an untrained 6'2" average male could be physically outmatched by an incredibly fit 5'4" man-- with equal training, the bigger dude has more utility.

the same for intelligence and diligence. the typical 100 IQ human who is able to discipline themselves to study for 40 hours is able to outclass the 140 IQ human who studies for 4 hours. if the higher IQ one studied for the same time, you would expect them to outperform the average IQ individual.
barring niche fields, the determined "average intelligence" person can outperform the lazy "high intelligence" person, because most work just "needs to get done". of course, the ideal is the determined intelligent person, but that's not what you're talking about.

but none of it is enforced. Teachers keep saying

>study 1 week in advance
>study 2 weeks in advance
but if anything, teachers should be encouraging less study time and even make it a impossible to study anymore than a certain amount of time because it scopes out the people who are naturally talented in their fields.

By allowing students the chance to study as much as possible, they could be majoring in something they have no natural talent for and will hurt them in the long run

yes AKA menial labor. fast food worker, a code monkey, etc.

I feel like were running into some major intelligence crisis of civilization. People now have to put in more and more studying work to get good grades in school, when we should heading towards less study time to scope natural talent and IQ

but with other fields, you get more and more people having to change majors halfway through their college career because nothing "clicks" with them in their chosen field. And then you have people who just put in too much effort in the beginning in middle and only realize at their jobs they werent meant for it
