Optics anons I have a dumb question.
I've edited the image by placing an eye to the right. My question is: why do we have to place a surface like a piece of paper where the image is formed in order to see it? Why can't we just see it floating in air?
If there isn't a surface to block them, the light rays that make up the image would continue on their way and spread out right? And then the lens of the eye should be able to concentrate them back into a single point on the retina.
