Yeah right, think about it, what scientist are mainstream today? The ones that show up everywhere on tv of course. Feynman was smart, but he also knew how to work a crowd. most people didn't care about qed or the delta function. they just want a show.

Dirac was both an amazing physicist and an impressive mathematician.
Feynman was also great, but I don't think his fame should subsume all of physics. We ought to talk more about Boltzmann, Dirac, Bell, etc.. I'm inclined to say Hilbert, but Hilbert is incredibly mainstream
