it's the most pseud shit taken as hard science
or there's always this caveat of reminding people of the faults of statistics, but in the end the number echoes in their brains because it's easy to understand than the, essentially, infinite amount of fluctuating shit that one would have to consider to give a valid statistic
there's soooooooooooooooo much projection
half the time people are talking about statistics i can discern plenty of information about their own personal identity, politics, or agenda
