Could we partially terraform Venus?

One of the proposals for a venus colony would be to create a "Venusian tower of Babylon" 50 km high where the mountain peak would experience pressures and temps within earth parameters. Well taking this idea and expanding on it why not create a mountain range around the equatorial belt of venus with a rim a further 50 km taller creating a kind of gulley or valley between the mountain range. co2 could be pumped out, leaving only nitrogen sulphuric acid reduced from the air and water directed in from comets/asteroids. making a sunshade/ asteroid bombardment would take too long. the mountain range would be 99.99% empty air if something like a metal micro lattice was used. Could be quite comfy desu.
