pure math is too "neat" for me. It's like a rich-person house where you aren't allowed to sit on the furniture.
I prefer applied math (statistics). Maybe its just me but I love approximating shit that is too unwieldy/complicated to get a solved answer for (mostly bayesian stuff using MCMC). Anything I can simulate is satisfying.
