That’s my point- the 1957-58 flu was deadlier per capita than the current coronavirus, yet it passed without anybody caring, and today it’s almost completely unknown. The 57-58 flu killed about 150,000 Americans, while the Spanish flu killed over 600,000.
Even the Spanish flu was barely remembered until a few months ago. Seriously, how much did you learn about the Spanish flu in middle and high school history? Maybe 2 sentences in the WW1 chapter? If Spanish flu was even considered that big of a deal at the time, I think it would get more coverage in history books.
