I’m sick of having a thousand different bits of furniture. What a inefficient waste of space. I want my bed to morph into a couch when I wake up and then a desk and then a dinner table We actually have a lot of the swarm intelligence programs for utility fog land large scale multicentimeter foglets but nothing small enough that it could realistically and comfortably replace furniture.

Your idea of a better future is fewer physical possessions? Good slave, it seems the programming is working. Also in the better future there will be less food for the working class, only enough to keep you coherent to push cart around. Also less light. You can work through muscle memory when you are put in the very futuristic ergastulum, just slummin it in the new technology of shackles.

No, capitalism can exist in many forms and has for hundreds of years since it emerged from the breakdown of feudalism. Capitalism only developed its current form by chance and necessity and could easily bring back all its worst excesses if allowed to.

dunno lol. The big difficulties are putting together tiny stuff, miniaturizing power electronics, making tiny actuators, and controlling swarms of thousands of robots. We don't have a good way to mass produce tiny stuff, it's hard to put together tiny things automatically because of stiction and what not. Power electronics are hard to miniaturize because anything involving magnets doesn't scale down well. Most power electronics end up being the biggest part of micro and millirobots. Power electronics are necessary because piezoelectric and electrostatic actuators operate at different voltages than control circuitry. Making tiny actuators is hard, because again magnets don't scale down well. Lastly, swarms of thousands of robots are hard to build because rare errors can become common enough to cause problems.
