Can anyone link me to east asian/indian studies about race, im looking for a groups view that doesn't have political baggage to worry about.

Impossible because a study that is 100% accurate but concludes things that a political group doesn't like instantly become political. Most studies on race and ethnicity did not want to be political, that was thrust upon them by political groups.

Also, even though you may envision Chinese or Indian scientists as somehow being unbiased observers (why?), the very conception of racial differences and how you delineate groups of people varies on your subjective criteria so this will intrinsically be a field that will have been guided and molded by the underlying political philosophy of the researchers' time and place. You cannot just strip away 'political baggage' from something derived and predicated from it.

What exactly are you looking for regarding human populations? Archaeogenetics tells of how populations came to be. Immunology can tell you different sorts of diseases that prevail through different populations and spread on.
Also, traditional races do not quite function or serve a purpose, however more local populations do.
