>>12243856>mate you're just guessing if you can't explain your reasoning.i'm not sure if i agree. you do a ton of unconscious calculations. you might not understand calculus at 16, but when you're turning into traffic at a stop sign, you're doing calculus in your head to determine if you're going to be able to pull out without getting hit.
you're doing physics in your head when you balance a pen on your fingertip.
you're doing multi-dimensional interpolation when you identify a sound's location on hearing alone.
i'd argue all of that is low level reasoning happening in your brain without your awareness. pattern recognition can be unconscious. there is an evolutionary pressure to be good at recognizing patterns to detect predators. the intuitive aspect of "solving matrices" is the application of that same process.
so yes, you're right, you can do it methodically. or, it can come intuitively. the only effective difference is awareness of the process. your heart beats without you telling it to. you can recognize patterns without being cognizant of the mechanism.
i got a 60/60 on the RAPM at 17. i didn't "guess", but i didn't really have time to "solve" them either. it's like how you can look at 5 of an object and know that there are 5 of them. you don't have to count them out. in the same way you can recognize that a square peg goes in a square hole. it's the same thing.
