This is the asteroid Bennu
Bennu has an unique orbit, that makes it pass close to Earth, and also closer to Venus and Mars.
Bennu is also not that big, so if reached we could dig a habitat inside and use it as a platform to reach Venus and Mars.
Why are we not going to Bennu to open exploration of the inner solar system?

I think you're misunderstanding how planetary transfers work anon. You need to 1. Place the space craft on an escape trajectory to the asteroid (3.5ishkm/s)
2. Capture burn and land (1-2km/s)
3. Wait until you get to a transfer window for Mars (likely longer than earth)
4. Fire rocket on Mars transfer (1-2km/s)
5.(optional) a Mars orbital capture burn (3km/s)

And if you plot the first 3.5km/s burn out you'd see the trajectory basically intercepts Mars orbit anyway and the asteroid offers nothing.

Ok, fine, but you have a planetary window to Mars every 2 years, you could use this asteroid (which would be a base anyway, so its interesting on its own) to travel to Mars outside of that window. Besides, it gets incredibly close, we can experiment with techniques to mine asteroids sonner than waiting to have a colony on Mars that would resupply ships going to the belt.

Whats the time frame for the next Benu pass that is closest to the Earth, while also getting closest to Mars in the same orbital period? And is it regular or is there a time frame? Every 10 years? 50 years? 100 years?
