The term 'hologram' is a just analogous expression. Holographic principle originated from AdS/CFT correspondence means equivalent between 'non-gravitational quantum theory in the N dimensional boundary' and 'gravitational theory in the N+1 dimensional interior space', like the hologram represents 3D physical information by projecting from 2D surface.

No, it has 2D surfaces, but they are not projecting anything? Why would they, bunch of different thing happens and you can put 0 anywhere, but please don't put it somewhere flat and projecting, because in 3D I cannot imagine where I would put this thing, besides spin of objects in universe forming stuff like saturn's rings.
