Neil deGrasse Tyson practices scientism, not science. Scientism is the religion under which technocracy and transhumanism persist. Scientism assigns credibility to so called "experts" (usually individuals who were hand selected by the Pentagon, political think tanks, and wealthy foundations like the Rockefeller Foundation) to bypass democracy and dictate policies, restrict people to certain castes, replace good jobs with AI and robots, and prohibit "ordinary" citizens (i.e. their competition) from becoming entrepreneurs who can make millions without having to join Big Brother and practice surveillance capitalism.
