Yes, meth can cause permanent/long-term damage to your brain. One time probably isn’t the end of the world if you are young and healthy, but it is definitely harmful if you use habitually. The main issue is that meth keeps you awake, and sleep is very important. It isn’t uncommon to be awake for 24, 48 hours straight on meth. Also, meth use will absolutely wreck your ability to feel pleasure. After using meth, I experienced severe anhedonia and lack of motivation. I’m pretty sure meth is neurotoxic, but feel free to look it up for yourself. Generally speaking, you shouldn’t use meth unless you have a legitimate reason: combat, or some other life or death situation where you absolutely cant afford to sleep or lose focus.
I’m not entirely sure about crack, but I’m pretty sure there some negative effects to impulse control, emotional stability, and cognitive ability after long-term use. Every crackhead I’ve known certainly seems to be fucked in the head.
