>>12228425>What is the current state of progress on sex robots?Multiple companies are pursuing it, like DS Doll Robotics. We've gotten pretty far on movable heads, but we're still pretty far from a good full-body robot. The best we have are prototypes that can move limbs but only barely, it can't support its own weight and there's no room to put any soft skin-material on, and the movement is very jagged and unnatural. See this channel for a lot of such examples:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shOXzHrJfeMThere are two main technical problems:
- The robotic tech needs to become both stronger, smaller, and cheaper. And these three obviously work against each other. We need to have our cake and eat it too. The motors in the doll would need to support the weight of the whole doll if it is to stand up or perform straining sexual positions like cowgirl, and they also need to be small enough to leave a lot of room for a soft outer layer. And all of this needs to not break the bank because then there would be no market except for a few eccentric millionaires.
But in the first generations this can be mitigated by severely limiting what kind of movement it can do, like only support positions where you do all the work, like missionary and doggy.
- AI. The doll would need to be able to respond realistically, both in terms of moaning etc but also verbally, perhaps even have a proper conversation with. We're making a lot of strides in this field recently with several companies competing for the cutting edge in conversational and language machine learning. But there would be a lot of extra features needed for a sex bot, like being able to judge the stage of sex it's currently in, like is it foreplay or is she close to orgasm? Is she receiving directions or suggestions from the user, to kiss or touch him etc? In the first generations this can be mitigated by making it hardly proactive or analyzing at all, if you want her to do something you have to explicitly say so etc.
