Here is my 7 stage interstellar mission, this is a expansion on Jordin Kares sail beam concept. the plan is simple, rather than use a single large solar sail which would be impossible to manufacture or deploy, use a stream of millions of small, easily manufacturable/ deployable sails that will be vaporized by a onboard ultraviolet laser and reflected with a magnetic field. This kind of pulsed propulsion is similar to a magnetic Project Orion, except instead of nukes we are using relativistic solar sails. Rather than using having to use a expensive to construct laser to accelerate these sails light Project Starshot, robert zubrins work on solar sails has shown they can reach relativistic speeds (0.05-0.1c) launch from 0.04 AU, which was chosen as known value as this is the proximity of the parks solar probe, but it could be launched as close as 0.02 -0.005 AU ( where the probe was ORIGINALLY designed for). as you can see this interstellar concept mission would be an amalgamation of multiple leading researchers, and my own contribution of conceptualising the self interfering braking mechanism. This concept would allow a craft to reach and explore all three systems within a 30 year time period. AMA.
