Is there a single biggest waste of fucking time than seminars? Why would I want to discuss some meme thesis that's not related to my field from some dude that happened to enter the same semester as me

I could tolerate wasting 2 hours a week, but
my thesis advisor is telling me not to hand over paper drafts (understandably so) but damn teacher just said that if I don't hand over them I'm failing the subject because that's me not doing anything for a semester according to him.


Anyone has had similar experiences? How do you handle these glorified circlejerks
