Loss of the Scientific Dream

My father was a poorfag and never got the opportunity for a good education. But he loved science, and one of the fondest moments of his childhood was watching the Moon landing. Eventually he pulled himself out of poverty and had me. Growing up he gave me every opportunity he could to engage with science like he never had.

I'm going to college for astrophysics now, and my father's stories of the Moon landing are THE motivation I have to do well in school. But in all likelihood NASA's going to put a woman on the Moon in the next decade as a diversity stunt. Any scientific triumph that landing on the Moon has is going to be overshadowed by "representation and diversity" crap. I don't want to see my father's dream be turned into a mockery like this.

Is American science cucked? How do you all cope with identity politics forcing their way into science?
