Has any scientific study tried to test the accuracy of common fortune-telling techniques ?

My mother got into this bullcrap (numerology, playing cards, pendulum reading), and I can't seem to make her understand that we have no reason to trust those methods. She literally believes she has supernatural powers and talks a lot about "energy" (not the kind measured in joules, obviously) and "spiritual body" but can't provide definitions for them.

Am I too "narrow-minded" ? I mean, I'm wiling to accept those fortune-telling methods as accurate if evidence I deem sufficient is provided (but right now, I can't not see them as more than a big pile of crap).

Scientific studies on the topic won't make her change her mind, but it seems interesting to read.

Also, why does it seems like this kind of "divination" stuff is mostly believed by 40+ years old women ?
