About 300 pages into my physics book I run into this. It's a calculus based physics course, why are they explaining what ? means? Why do they need to write f?(max) to refer to ??N when they could just write ??N from the beginning? Why do they abuse functional notation out of the blue? Isn't the whole paragraph redundant?
