Realistically speaking, how much are you prepared for a nuclear fallout?

Do you live in/near a major city? Do you have nuclear shelter with supplies? Do you have suits/masks to deal with radiation lack of oxygen?

Also, what is the best suit an average person can buy online?

The problem with the suit is that it needs to be rinsed off and and stored in a clean area. Unless you have a lead lined tank for fallout grey water, multiple shielded air locks, multiple suits, you will get the dust on/in you. Best bet is to hole up somewhere under ground with a very large supply and wait until the fallout is "mostly" gone. Depends on the level of bombardment that happens but you would need considerable resources to make sorties into a fallout area without contaminating everything in your home base.

Good points. Is there any chance your car wont get fucked and be driveable within a 10-15 km blast radius? You could gear up and get the fuck out of there. But once you arrive to a safe location, how do yoy decontaminate the suit and the car? Is there anything you can improvise?

The best you can do is spray everything down with water the best you can and hope you don't get dosed for too long. Car may or may not start depends on how big the EMP is is. You won't be able to drive away in time due to traffic. Best bet is to be rich and shelter in place.

I live so close to NATO facilities that I need factor 5000 sunscreen before I need to worry about fallout.

Wash it with water. Have a geiger counter to actually get an idea what contamination levels you're dealing with.

Also that N95 mask will prevent you from inhaling radioactive contaminations more than it will prevent you from covid infections.

I can (almost) categorically assure you that you're not ready and will be unable to prepare a strategy to account for every event. Off the top of my head, you'd have to account for:
>Airblast (possibly)
>Radiation (duh)
>Fire, smoke and associated weather conditions (look at california right now as an example).
>Food, water & air (potentially). Not just calories but also adequate nutrition.
>Societal collapse (not what america is larping just now but actual collapse).

There is no need to worry much. During WW2 one Japanese dude survived nuke on Hiroshima. But he still needed to go to work, and he went by train to Nagasaki, where he survived second nuke. It would be nice to overload body with non-radioactive iodine, so body would not absorb much radioactive one. Also, non radioactive calcium/magnesium overload, so body would absorb less radioactive cesium and strontium.

During ww2 time, when nuke tests were made, there was also soldiers as test subject some kilometers away. And survival rate was quite high.

I live 60 miles from a primary target. I don't have anything special prepared for a nuclear attack but in general am well supplied for most disasters. I have plenty of extra food, enough water for one-two months depending on where in my refresh cycle the attack happens, and deep woods medical supplies. I don't have NBC suits. I'm well armed.
