I think it's best to start with yourself, live a beautiful life. People saying "define good" etc are misleading you- everyone knows what's good, how to live well, and how they ought to act.
I think effective altruism probably distracts from this unless you have your own beautiful life unquestionably solidified for a long time, years even.
I'm relation to "how do I use my profession to do good", I don't think that's a question someone would need to ask if their own life was sorted out. I think the good flows organically from inside, you don't really direct it like that.
