Here's a thought on shitty programs at prestigious schools.
During my undergrad I went to a top 3 school for Physics, and it had become such a trash program that even the university patronized, excluded, and ignored them.
That being said, to keep their prestige and the ranking of the program high, they go through a lot of connections to bump the numbers, and bank on their students as opposed to the faculty.
My question is, when does nepotism take over, and when should a university intervene? I was kind of hoping schools would use covid as an excuse to lay off their "less esteemed" faculty.
